Thai Pongal/ Makara Jyothi & Pradosham

Thai Pongal is the annual harvest festival which is celebrated by making sweet milk rice for the Sun God.
Makara Jyothi is the final day of the Mandala Viratham for Sri Ayyappan. The day when Sri Ayyappan appears as the Makara Star in the sky at Sabarimalai.

Program as follows:

Morning

  • 5:30 am: Sri Karphaga Vinayakar and Sri Suryan Abishekam

  • 5:45 am: Pongal (Making sweet milk rice outside the Temple for Lord Surya)

  • 7:00 am: Morning Special Pooja

  • 11:30 am: Noon Pooja

Evening

  • 5:30 pm: Sri Ayyappa Nei (Ghee) Abishekam, Lord Shiva & Nandhi Abishekam & Bhajan

  • 6:30 pm: Pradosham Pooja

  • 7:00 pm: Evening Pooja

  • 7:20 pm: Padi Pooja (Lighting of the 18 steps)

  • 7:30 pm: Special Deeparathani for Sri Ayyappan

  • 7:40 pm: Panchamuga Archanai for Sri Ayyappan

  • 8:00 pm: Pushpanjali (Offering flowers to Sri . Ayyappan)

  • 8:15 pm: Harivarasanam

  • 8:30 pm: Program Ends

Bookings for Sri Karphaga Vinayakar, Sri Suryan, Sri Ayyappan Abishekam or Padi Pooja can be made by contacting Temple Priest on 9746 9590. Padi Pooja will be held daily till 14th January 2016 at 6:30pm.

Devotees wishing to bring flowers for Pushpanjali can do so before 7:00 pm.
